Air Filter

What does it do?  Clean the air entering the engineclean vs. dirty air filter

Why should I change it?

  1. Keep dirt out of the engine. Dirt will damage piston rings and cylinder walls causing catastrophic failure.
  2. Protect mass airflow sensor. MAF sensor is very sensitive to dirt, is in the air intake snorkel immediately after the air filter, and costs between $200-$600.
  3. Improve fuel economy
  4. Maintain engine performance
  5. Maintain vehicle warranty

How often should I change it?    Whenever it is found dirty during inspection, usually 15,000-30,000 miles depending on mostly upon how much you travel on gravel roads.
